Research And Markets Report Predicts Satellite Subs Will More Than Triple By 2018

The increased affordability of satellite service, along with the launching of new satellite and new technology development will serve to more than triple the current number of satellite internet subscribers over the next seven years, so says a Research and Markets report entitled “Global Consumer Satellite Broadband Internet Market”. The launch of new satellites has already begun, with the ViaSat-1, the most powerful satellite on earth having been launched in October of this year to serve the U.S. and Canada. A month later, it was announced that another satellite carrier would be launching a more powerful Jupiter satellite in early 2012 to better serve its rural customers. And in 2013, the Optus 10 satellite will be launched by France’s Arianespace to supply faster internet connections to those residing in the Asia-Pacific region.
